Photographing the Vision, Design & Details
of a Space

Architectural photography is about more than documenting a building. It is about showing the vision, design and details that make a space work.

Red Tail Photography has photographed architecture and interiors for nearly 40 years, from commercial buildings and corporate environments to residential architecture and carefully designed interiors. We work with architects, interior designers, builders, developers and other professionals to create images for portfolios, marketing, publications and corporate communications.

Photographing Architecture From Exterior to Interior

Every architectural project has its own character, from the overall form of a building to the materials, details and spaces within it. We photograph architecture from multiple perspectives to create a complete visual representation of the project.

We photograph:

  • Commercial architecture

  • Corporate and office environments

  • Residential architecture

  • Interior design

  • Hospitality and public spaces

  • Architectural details and materials

  • Building exteriors and facades

  • Interior spaces and finishes

  • Architectural renovations and remodels

  • Construction-to-completion documentation

  • Aerial and drone perspectives

The bar features illuminated bottles and a glossy black counter with bar stools. Dining tables and cushioned chairs are arranged along the sides, with decorative wooden slats on the walls and ceiling.

Showing the Design

A successful architectural photograph does more than show a room or building. It helps the viewer understand the decisions behind the design.

Light, materials, scale, perspective, lines and relationships between spaces all contribute to how an environment is experienced.

Our approach is to look beyond simply recording what is there and create photographs that communicate the qualities that made the project worth designing in the first place.

Experience Behind the Camera

Architectural photography has been an important part of our work for decades. Over that time, we've photographed commercial buildings, corporate environments, residential architecture, interiors, construction projects and finished spaces for a wide range of clients.

Our architectural work has appeared on seven magazine covers, along with being used in portfolios, publications, marketing campaigns, websites and corporate communications.

That experience has taught us that architectural photography requires more than technical camera skills. It requires an understanding of light, composition, perspective, materials and the intended use of the final images.

More Than the Finished Building

A finished building is only part of the story.

The materials, details, craftsmanship and people involved in creating the space can all be important.

Depending on the assignment, we may photograph the building during construction, the finished exterior, interior spaces, architectural details, the people using the space or aerial perspectives that show the project in context.

The goal is to create a collection of photographs that gives the client more than a single hero image—it provides a visual library that can continue to be useful long after the project is complete.

Working With the Project Team

Architectural photography often involves coordinating with architects, designers, builders, owners and other members of the project team. We understand that access, scheduling, site conditions and the intended use of the photographs all affect how an assignment needs to be approached.

Our experience working across architecture, construction and commercial photography allows us to work comfortably with the different people involved in a project while keeping the photographic goals in focus.

We are Photographers Who Understands Architecture

After nearly four decades behind the camera, we've learned that good architectural photography begins with understanding the space.

The challenge isn't simply finding a beautiful angle. It's determining what makes the project distinctive and finding the perspective, light and composition that communicate it.

Whether we're photographing a large commercial building, a carefully designed interior or a residential project, we approach each assignment with the same goal: create photographs that show the design as the architect or designer intended it to be experienced.
